In Toulouse, the rehabilitation of the Blue City of Négreneys has begun
The rehabilitation of the Négreneys district has resumed in Toulouse, with the first demolitions of the Cité Bleue. This Monday, January 31, the Caffort building was attacked by the nibbler dispatched to the site by Toulouse Métropole Habitat.
After a first phase of asbestos removal and selective deconstruction, the redevelopment of the Blue City, Négreneys district in Toulouse, has begun. Toulouse Metropolis Housing and the town hall of the Pink City must now move on to the demolition of the three buildings planned by the end of the quarter. The first to suffer the onslaught of the nibbler is the Caffort building.
Continuation of the calendar
After the Caffort building, the demolition machinery will move on to that of Tunis, then of Négreneys. By the end of the year, these three buildings will therefore be destroyed with a view to opening up the district. In total, 160 homes will be dismantled.
“We welcome the start of this demolition which gives life to the renewal project of this district. Improve the comfort of residents, strengthen social diversity, facilitate well-beingthis is what motivated our work”, explains Bertrand Serp, president of Toulouse Métropole Habitat.
After which, the phase of rehabilitation of the Caffort tower (48 dwellings) and the Farman building (80 dwellings). The end of works to take place in 18 months.
Rehabilitation “for a better living comfort”
The two Caffort and Farman buildings will be completely renovated. In the first, balconies will be added on the west and south facades, on all the dwellings that do not have them. At the same time, thermal rehabilitation works will be undertaken to reduce energy consumption. They will end with renovation of facades.
As for the Farman building, the fiber cement cladding will be replaced by others in terracotta on which a exterior insulation. The entrance halls will also be redone.
All of the work should be completed in the summer of 2023 and the Blue City should regain color.
