Easing of the rules in sight in Luxembourg
The Covid-19 is far from having disappeared, but the situation invites “a certain optimism”, released Thursday Paulette Lenert, Minister of Health, by taking stock of the prevalence of the virus. So much so that some of the restrictions could be lifted or relaxed. The Deputy Prime Minister acknowledged that there was “convergence at the international level” to say that the situation was improving. The trend is towards an easing of restrictions”.
The next measures will be announced on Friday afternoon. According to information from The essential, the closing at 11 p.m. of catering establishments should be lifted, while the rules will be relaxed in the field of sport and leisure. All of this is made possible by “a stable situation in hospitals, despite the increase in the number of contaminations”, continues Paulette Lenert. There is no question of slacking off, however: the country “remains in a pandemic situation, there are still deaths due to the Covid”. The minister made a point of recalling that “the restrictions were less strong than elsewhere, according to an international comparison”.
The authorities are beginning to have “a little hindsight” on the Omicron wave, this variant seeming more contagious but less virulent than the previous ones. The slight decline in the number of infections observed in the last weekly report shows that “the exponential increase seems to be over”, the minister. She again recalled the usefulness of vaccination, the virus circulating “twice as much in the non-vaccinated”, while the vaccinated have “a 19 times lower probability of ending up in intensive care units”.
