Clément speaks out on the ASM market
L’AS Monaco registered only one player during the winter transfer window. The new coach Philippe Clément is not complaining about it, before facing OL.
AS Monaco: Philippe Clément, “happy that all the players stayed”
Appointed head coach of AS Monaco on January 3, 2022, in place of the sacked Niko Kovac, Philippe Clement could not prepare for the winter transfer window of the Rocher club. However, the club’s leaders have made available to him a young Brazilian right-back, vanderson. The 20-year-old is from Grêmio in his native country. Nevertheless, the Belgian technician is not upset by the absence of reinforcement at ASM in this month of January. He says he is satisfied because all the important players remained in the Principality when the transfer market closed.
“I’m happy that all the players are still here”, he rejoiced in the pre-match press conference against OL. “I’m happy, but I’m not an easily dissatisfied coach,” he insisted.
Aurélien Tchouaméni finally stayed at ASM
Note that the new international Habs (7 selections), Aurélien Tchouaméni (22 years old) was very courted during this winter. Big European teams, including Real Madrid and Chelsea, have been approached by the recruiter. But the leaders of AS Monaco refused to give up the young midfielder mid-season. From then on, Philippe Clément worked with a full group found on his arrival from Club Brugge (Belgium). “I want to develop players so I only look at those I have at my disposal. I do not think of the absent. I’m always looking for solutions”, he reassured.
It should be noted that even in the direction of departures, AS Monaco recorded only one transfer this winter, that of Wilson Isidore. The 21-year-old striker was sold to Lokomotiv Moscow in Russia for €3.5m.
