Bulgaria will be looking for nurses from Kazakhstan, Ukraine, Belarus and Moldova
The problem with the shortage of doctors is based on the increase in the number of health facilities on the site. “The number of doctors registered by the BMA is between 31-32 thousand. The problem is that medical facilities have to meet the standard and then there are not enough doctors. However, the real problem is the insufficient number of nurses attracted to work in Western Europe in recent years. This was commented by the Deputy Minister of Health Dr. Georgi Yordanov in Kyustendil, a citizen of BTA.
Yordanov says health authorities are considering a variety of measures, including sick ones, to give scholarships to candidates for nurses and dormitories.
“At the hospital in Dobrich we are trying to work on a project with nurses from Kazakhstan. It is not all about regulating the opportunity to work in the EU member state, “Yordanov added.
He added that the country’s borders are open for medical professionals, and attempts are being made to motivate Bulgarian-speaking ethnic groups – from Ukraine, Belarus and Moldova.
The Deputy Minister stressed that everything possible is being done, including increasing the number of nurses studying in colleges.
