Sweden offers BAE Systems’ battle-proven CV90 to Slovakia | National Business
ÖRNSKÖLDSVIK, Sweden – (BUSINESS WIRE) – 1 February 2022–
BAE Systems has confirmed its offer, together with the Swedish Defense Materiel Administration (FMV), for the advanced, combat-tested CV90 in response to the Slovak Ministry of Defense’s acquisition of 152 new infantry combat vehicles (IFV) in several variants. The offer will ensure the production and delivery of CV90 in cooperation with the local Slovak industry, on time and on budget.

The joint application from FMV and BAE Systems confirms the Swedish states’ support for Slovakia, which further strengthens government relations as the country ensures the modernization of its ground forces by 2030. The offer includes support with training, tactics and future development and welcomes Slovakia as a member of CV90 User Club.
BAE Systems Hägglunds, which manufactures CV90 in Örnsköldsvik, Sweden, has delivered several CV90 export programs to European customers. With a history of very successful industrial cooperation that goes beyond the mechanical assembly of the vehicle, the team will work with several Slovak companies to supply CV90s to the army.

In June 2021, CV90 participated in dynamic and static demonstrations for Slovak VIPs, including Defense Minister Jaroslav Naď, and army representatives at the Military and Testing Institute in Záhorie, Slovakia. Three variants of the CV90 family – CV90 MkIV, an armored personnel carrier and Medium Tank CV90120 – showed the different capacities of the CV90 fleet.
CV90 is available in 15 variants and is designed to provide optimal mobility, with the highest level of protection in any terrain or tactical environment. The latest version, CV90 MkIV, combines improved battlefield speeds and handling with an upgraded electronic architecture to support future growth opportunities as the complex battlefield develops.
CV90 is in operation with Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Norway, Sweden, Switzerland and the Netherlands. There are almost 1,300 CV90s of many variants in service. The vehicle has an established track record and is designed to meet future growth to meet new assignments.
