Derichebourg Aeronautics recruits 250 people in Toulouse after an APC controversy
Airbus, CS Group, Liebherr Aerospace, Sabena Technics… In recent days, many companies in the aeronautics sector, based in Toulouse, have announced recruitment without further delay. After 24 complicated months for the sector, this listing seems to show that it is regaining momentum and optimism.
Recently, the Derichebourg Aeronautics Services group came to complete it, with the immediate announcement of the recruitment of 300 people in France, including 250 in Toulouse. This Tier 1 aeronautical subcontractor is looking for profiles in several professions.
“We have major needs, in particular for quality inspectors, engineering, but we are also looking for companions on the profiles of aeronautical technicians, mechanics, cablers, electricians and cabin integrators. Also, we wish to recruit analysts in management and airworthiness for our client airlines”, explains Karine Alibert, head of the talents and skills division at Derichebourg Aeronautics Services.
To carry out this vast recruitment operation, the company which works mainly for Airbus is organizing a job dating, Wednesday February 9 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., at the Aeroscopia museum in Blagnac. The concept ? Those classified simply have to register in advance in order to book an appointment of a few minutes with a recruiter from the company. “We already have over 350 registrants, more than a week away from the event. People are responding!“, says the leader, slightly surprised by the excitement around the operation.
Attempt to overcome recruitment difficulties
Nevertheless, she admits that if the figures continue to climb in this way, a first skimming will be carried out by her teams in order to have interviews only with profiles corresponding to their expectations.
“We are looking for people who already have at least a diploma or a CQPM (Joint Qualification Certificate for Metallurgy, editor’s note). The idea is to insert them very quickly in the field after an internal training course. So, as soon as the recruits are available, they will be integrated,” said Karine Alibert.
Ideally, Derichebourg Aeronautics would like to be able to count on all of its new employees from the month of March because activity would pick up strongly. “This job dating is a very positive signal. Rates are picking up and the company has won some major contracts“, comments Jean-Marc Moreau, the FO union representative, majority within Derichebourg Aeronautics. In particular, the Toulouse group has benefited from the rise in power of the FAL (final assembly line) on the Airbus A321.But it remains very tense internally, we have recruitment difficulties, like many other aeronautics companies“, adds the staff representative.
By the admission of the hiring manager, “the market is very dry (in profiles)“, with difficulty for Derichebourg Aéronautique to receive applications.”Today, the job market is very tense, people change a lot of sectors of activity. We need to organize some marketing events to show that things are going and that we are there like our competitors. Since last school year, we have tightened all our partnerships, especially with schools“, explains Karine Alibert. Apart from job dating, the company which employs 1,100 people in Toulouse also plans to recruit 50 work-study students and as many interns in 2022. A way of preparing the professionals of tomorrow in the sector and making current teams vulnerable.
An APC with embers still hot
Although today inclined to welcome new employees, Derichebourg Aeronautics is emerging from a period of strong social tensions… For the record, two years ago, the company was the first in the French aeronautics sector to take measures social response to the health crisis. The entity asked its employees for a financial effort in the form of a collective performance agreement (APC), failing which it would have to proceed with a PSE.
“The APC was done to avoid a PSE. It was perhaps not a good solution but it was the least bad way to preserve jobs. Some people shouted that doing the APC would be useless and that there would be a PSE whatever happens, I think we are a long way from all that now…”, testifies Jean-Marc Moreau who had to face the opposition of certain unions on the signature of the APC like UNSA.
For the record, the daily meal and transport allowances were abolished and then abolished – in part – by restaurant tickets under this APC, just as it suffered the abolition of the 13th month for salaries above 2.5 SMIC. This represents on average a monthly effort of 170 euros net per employee and that some have not accepted, therefore dozens of departures at Derichebourg Aeronautics. “Following the APC, we had 185 departures internally. Among them, 130 left to start their own business or took the opportunity to retrain, around thirty went on early retirement and 25 left the company because they were not in adequacy with the APC. In any case, these are people that we would not have managed to keep“, wishes to inform the management of the company which employs a total of 1,300 people in France. Behind this massive recruitment operation, an image issue is clearly present in the ranks of Derichebourg Aéronautique.
