ASVEL suffered a third consecutive defeat in the Euroleague, on the floor of Fenerbahçe (85-76), and sees its chances of qualifying for the quarter-finals being reduced. In the evening, Monaco won 83-91 at Panathinaikos and took the provisional eighth place.
The weeks go by and the chances of seeing ASVEL play in the quarter-finals of the Euroleague are dwindling. The champion club of France suffered its fourteenth defeat in 23 games, the third in a row, this Tuesday on the floor of Fenerbahçe, which nevertheless navigates in the soft underbelly of the classification (9th) this season, in particular because of the injury to the hand of Nando de Colo. The Villeurbannais lost 85-76 in Turkey, cracking at the end. At the end of the third quarter, the Turks were only leading by one point (64-63), but they stepped on the accelerator to win. ASVEL, which had lost the first quarter 29-23 before rejoining half-time being led only 47-41, held until 67-66 in the 32nd minute. But the Fener finished on an 18-10, including nine points from Devin Booker (16pts in total), untenable in the money-time. Elie Okobo, author of 23 points, did everything to keep ASVEL afloat, but it’s another defeat for TJ Parker’s men, who are thirteenth, two wins from eighth place. The Villeurbannais will stay in Turkey to face Efes Istanbul, defending champion but only ninth this season, on Friday.

Monaco clings
If things start to go wrong for ASVEL, Monaco can believe it more than ever. Forced to finish in the Top 8 if it wants to return to the Euroleague next season, ASM gives everything, and it signed its eleventh victory of the season, on the floor of Panathinaikos: 83-91. However, the Monegasques struggled to start the game and found themselves trailing 27-19 at the end of the first quarter. But they reacted perfectly in the second, starting with a 9-0, then they widened the gap to +10 to finally return to the locker room down 42-49. ASM started the second half very well by leading by thirteen points (46-59), before experiencing a slack and Pana returned to -2. On his mother, the Greek club passed in front at the start of the last quarter (68-67, 33rd). This did not worry the Monegasques, on the contrary! They followed with a 13-0, including eight points from Mike James, who will finish with 29 (4/7 at 3pts). The Roca Team was then no longer worried and therefore won in Athens. If Mike James was excellent, Dwayne Bacon was not left out, with 14 points. Thanks to this success, Monaco takes eighth place, before going to Red Star Belgrade on Thursday, but ASM is the only team, with ASVEL, to have played 23 games. Some teams only played 20.
