Ended on the suspense, we now know what will look like, once rehabilitated, the town hall of Annecy. The reconstruction of the building partly destroyed during the violent fire of November 14, 2019 has been designated to the architect Pierre-Louis Faloci
. If the exterior facades will not be modified with the exception of the creation of a belvedere overlooking the gardens of Europe, the changes will however be clearly visible inside the structure.
“On the ground floor we will have a completely open space (…) which will lead to the gardens of Europe.” – François Astorg, Mayor of Annecy
An “open” building“The town hall will take on a whole new dimension to become the home of the town », Explains the mayor of Annecy.“It will integrate living and co-working spaces to strengthen the links between elected officials and citizens” , continues François Astorg. Two hundred and twenty city officials will work in this building, which will house services to the population (civil status, civic life, culture / sport / youth, room rental, etc.) but also the mayor’s office, the general management and communication. From an architectural point of view, the well-known glass roof of Annecy will be raised by about ten meters to offera central skylight .“The town hall will be open, the public will be able to cross it to reach the gardens of Europe”

Work should begin in the spring of 2023 and be completed two years later.“The total rehabilitation budget is 30 million euros, 20 million of which are covered by insurance”
