Alstom will deliver locomotives in Belgium for nearly 120 million euros
These electric locomotives will be destined for SNCB, the Belgian national rail operator.
The contracts continue to follow for Alstom in 2022. After 500 million euros in Romania and 1.8 billion in Norway, two agreements signed in January, the manufacturer announces a new order from SNCB in Belgium.
The French train giant has signed a framework agreement to deliver up to 50 third-generation Traxx electric locomotives to the Belgian national rail operator, for use on its passenger lines.
The first firm order, estimated at nearly 120 million euros, covers the design, manufacture and certification of 24 locomotives. Planned deliveries will begin in 2026.
2400 Traxx locomotives delivered for 20 years
These new locomotives make national and cross-border journeys on the electrified networks in Belgium, the Netherlands, Luxembourg and Germany, including on a number of high-speed lines.

The group recalls that it has already sold 2,400 Traxx family locomotives over the past 20 years. “They have been approved in 20 countries and travel a total distance of more than 300 million kilometers a year. In the Benelux countries, nearly 280 Traxx locomotives are already in commercial service” can we read in a press release.
Designed at the Alstom site in Mannheim, the new Traxx locomotive is manufactured at the Kassel site (in Germany). The bogies are supplied by the Siegen site (Germany) while the body structures are manufactured in Wroclaw (Poland). The Alstom site in Charleroi provides the national signaling systems for the four countries.
Remember that faced with a full order book, Alstom has announced its intention to recruit 7,500 people worldwide this year, including 1,000 in France.
