Monaco resists Lens and goes to 1/4 (2-4)
Monaco challenged Lens to Bollaert with the aim of winning a ticket for the quarter-finals of the Coupe de France. Thanks to a double from Wissam Ben Yedder and goals from Jean Lucas and Sofiane Diop, AS Monaco won 4-2 and therefore qualified for the rest of the competition.
The start of the match is totally Lensois and the Monegasques are overwhelmed and have to ask Vito Mannone, who saves his teammates several times, like this shot deflected on his crossbar. The Asemists let the storm pass and were going to open the score after the quarter of an hour of play thanks to the inevitable Ben Yedder. The Monegasque captain perfectly represents the head of a cross from Caio Henrique, author of a new assist. Philippe Clément’s men were going to do the break thanks to Jean Lucas in the 26th minute. The often maligned Brazilian was well served by Gelson Martins and cheated on Leca. Three minutes later, the ASM drove the point home, Sofiane Diop being perfectly served by Jean Lucas. Just before halftime, Wesley Said gave some hope to Lens, beating Mannone twice.
In the second half, the Lensois attacked as in the first act, and would reduce the score in the 53rd minute. Kalimuendo, who came on the break, wrapped his shot perfectly and Mannone could not do anything. Lens, 2-3, then rushed to the surface but an excellent Vito Mannone kept ASM afloat. At the end of the match, Wissam Ben Yedder scored his second but personal and usable at the ASM to breathe.
With this victory, Monaco qualifies for the 1/4 finals of the Coupe de France, and will know their opponent tomorrow evening, on the occasion of the draw which will take place tomorrow at 8:45 p.m. before the last meeting of these 8th finals. between Paris and Nice. The meetings will take place in mid-February.
