[CDF] RC Lens – Monaco: match notes
Despite a good start to the match and an excellent second half, RC Lens said goodbye to the Coupe de France, the fault of a serious air pocket which cost them three goals. Discover the notes of the match, concocted by the editorial staff of the 11 Lensois.
The most prominent player: Cheick Doucouré
Still just as active in the midfield, Cheick Doucouré largely contributed to the pressing and was certainly the one who sank the least in the wide widths during the ten minutes which cost RC Lens qualification. If he lost a few more duels and did not reign as much as usual, the powerful Malian was not helped by a team which was not at best in the one against one.
The notes :
The least visible player: Facundo Medina
Beaten in the air by Ben Yedder on the first goal, overtaken by Jean Lucas on the second, not present enough on that of Diop before letting Ben Yedder – again – enter the surface and strike without putting up any real opposition… In short , Facundo Medina had a very dirty Sunday evening, being almost directly involved in the four goals conceded. Besides that, he lost several key duels and didn’t show his advantage on the ball. A game to forget.
In short :
Entering the game at the break in place of a fairly erased and somewhat overwhelmed Florian Sotoca, Arnaud Kalimuendo (5) revived the Lensois people a little more after closing the gap from Wesley Saïd. He could also have been the hero with the equalizing ball at the end of his foot. With an activity not to be forgotten and author of the but which revived the meeting, Wesley Saïd proved to be important in the offensive scheme of the Sang et Or. If he was able to participate offensively, Seko Fofana too often forgot himself in the loss of the ball and did not have the usual return.
