Toulouse: the INP launches an anti-aging cream based on mushrooms
INP-ENSIACET Toulouse is launching a formulation of a skin cream based on Asian mushrooms and black truffles.
As we know, the Asian Reishi mushroom, also called the “mushroom of immortality”, has many virtues. An explosive result when it marries the black truffle of Quercy. Based on this observation, the Flav Lab of the National Polytechnic Institute of Toulouse (INP), has developed an innovative anti-aging cream formulation based on truffle extracts and various Asian mushrooms including reishi, shiitake, a edible mushroom very rich in nutrients for the skin. A project called Champicosmeto.
Preview presentation on February 2
“This year, throughout France, including in Toulouse, the theme of the 38th Chemistry Olympiad is “Chemistry and Cosmetics”. A vast subject of which we are at the heart”, recalls Thierry Talou, teacher-researcher at the INP at the initiative of this product with his team made up of two students in Cosmetics BTS, Isalyne Saunier and Eva Benede. The team worked for a year to develop and perfect this anti-aging moisturizing cream: “For more than twenty-five years, we have been working on the chemistry of mushrooms and truffles, whose nutrients are beneficial for the epidermis, especially for flexibility, believes Thierry Talou.
To these mushrooms and this black truffle, the team associated herbal infusions: green tea rich in polyphenols, green maté and rooibos, a red bush whose antioxidant properties are essential against aging of the skin. “With these mixtures, we obtained a beige-coloured cream for a pilot preparation of one kilo, i.e. 50 small boxes, tested by young girls from the Hélène Boucher high school in Toulouse”.
At the request of the organizers of the Salon Innov Occitanie in Labège, on February 2, the results of this Champicosmeto project will be presented in preview.
