Rouen defeats Grenoble
After Amiens on penalties, it was Rouen at the end of extra time who managed to get the better of Grenoble, who remain solid leaders of the Magnus League.
Grenoble saw a bad start in the Magnus League. The day after their defeat at the end of the penalty shootout against Amiens, the Brûleurs de Loups fell on the ice of Rouen. A meeting that got off to a strong start with, on an individual action, Andrew Johnston who opened the score for the Dragons shortly before the quarter hour mark. However, this advantage did not last more than two minutes, Markus Poukkula putting the two teams level on a pass from Nicolas Deschamps. The score then did not move for almost 30 minutes. Indeed, while the second period was goalless, the match came alive as the last quarter of an hour approached. First of all, Andrew Johnston went there with his double, on a pass from Simon Johannes Suoranta, to put Rouen back on the scoreboard. Taking advantage of a double numerical superiority, the Brûleurs de Loups were equalized through Stéphane Bisaillon.
Rouen gets closer to Angers
Smugglers on this but, Nicolas Deschamps and Kyle Shearer Hardy also allowed Damien Fleury to put Grenoble ahead with five minutes left to play. An advantage which however did not hold until the siren since, in turn taking advantage of a situation of numerical superiority, Joris Bedin offered the Dragons the equalizer on assistance from David Gilbert and Kelsey Tessier. The end of the match did not allow the two teams to make a difference and, for the third time in a row, Grenoble had to play extra time. Extra time that only lasted a little over two minutes. Perfectly offset by Dylan Yeo, Andrew Johnston went to deceive Jakub Stepanek for the third time of the evening. Rouen thus signs a fourth victory in a row (4-3 ap) and comes back to one point behind Angers with one game less. Grenoble, for its part, concedes its seventh defeat in 31 games but remains well ahead of the Magnus League standings with thirteen points ahead of the Angevins.
