Good approaches, but clear defeat in Unterhaching
There wasn’t much to gain on Friday evening for the weakened Salzburger Austria in the first friendly of the season at Regionalliga Bayern club SpVgg Unterhaching. The red-blue team won 8-1 on the artificial turf of the sports park in front of around 50 spectators after a 3-1 lead at the break.
However, the end result does not reflect the performance of the violets. Coach Christian Schaider: “The first half was strong, it was 0-0 up to the 35th minute”. In the first half hour, Austria had three top chances (2 x ban, Soda shot over the crossbar) which unfortunately remained unused.
Haching then made it 1-0 from a counterattack and was able to increase it to 2-0 after a corner. After a good combination of René Zia and Marinko Soda, Christoph Bann scored the 1:2 from Austria’s point of view. “We were very strong in possession, but also against the ball,” so shepherd. The 3:1 for Unterhaching before the break, again from a corner, is a bit unfortunate.
“In the second half we lost physical strength. The opponent also brought a completely fresh team.” so shepherd. Die Austria couldn’t keep up, too many players weren’t available in the Munich suburb. The regulars Luka Sandmayr, Matthias Theiner and Fabio Trkulja are missing injured. Striker Marco Hödl and defender Philipp Landauer were also not available. Alex Schwaighofer is still clearly behind in training after an illness.
“After the 4:1 we lost the order and unfortunately also conceded one or the other goal too many”. From the 70th minute, Austria also used a few young players. “Basically it was a good test. The first half was very strong, the second half wasn’t good.” sums up Schaider.
For a first test against a team die in the pre-season is already much further, league start for Bayern is on February 21st, but the team showed good approaches. “We’re building on the first half, it looked good,” so shepherd.
