Warriors & Quiet Waters Ice Fishing Near Malta, Montana
You’ve probably heard of Warriors & Quiet Waters (WQW), which is based right here in Montana. When you think of WQW, you think of Bozeman, Montana, wounded fighters, and fly fising. Check out these great photos of Warriors & Quiet Waters in action near Malta, Montana.
That’s right, Warriors & Quiet Waters is now adding ice fishing to the mix as well. This week, they are going out on the ice near Malta with several veterans after 9-11 for their “Ice FX”. FX means “fishing experience”, but in the military it is also a short term for field exercise.
One WQW volunteer named Rob first started helping in 2019. It now comes back every year for FX ice fishing.
Rob: The colder it gets, the more fun it is when we are fishing in the ice. It’s about embracing sucking and that’s the Warrior attitude.
Through the experience of fly fishing in Montana, WQW is a catalyst for a positive change in the lives of 9/11 combat veterans and their loved ones. Warriors & Quiet Waters is an organization that helps veterans rekindle their love for the outdoors.
I called Studio MacLeod for the incredible photos. There is also a video and more on the Warriors & Quiet Waters Facebook page.
* Full disclosure note: I have been talking and writing about WQW for many years now, but I have recently been honored to serve on their National Advisory Board.
LOOK: Stunning vintage photos capture the beauty of America’s national parks
Today these parks are located across the country in 25 states and the US Virgin Islands. Their land was either bought or given away, although much of it was inhabited by indigenous people for thousands of years before the founding of the United States. These areas are protected and revered as educational resources about the natural world, and as spaces for exploration.
