San Marino. Elio Germano at the Titano Theater with “Segnale dall’allarme”
Friday 28 January 2022 at 9 pm at the Titano Theater as part of the Theater Season of San Marino Teatro, a very special appointment: Elio Germano creator, director and interpreter of Segnale d’allarme – My battle VR.
An alarm signal is the transposition into virtual reality of My Battle, a show taken from the Italian translation of Mein Kampf by Adolf Hitler of which Elio Germano was the sole actor and director. Written jointly with Chiara Lagani, it is a VR film born from the collaboration with Omar Rashid (co-director of the film) and the multimedia project Gold, of which Rashid is the founder.
Using the potential of virtual reality, an experiment is staged in which Germano hypnotizes his parents, almost manipulates them, with the aim of transmitting that alarm signal from which the VR show itself takes its name.
The experience allows the viewer, through the viewers, to relive the theatrical piece from the front row, immersing himself completely until confusing the imaginary and the real.
And in those viewers we see the actor-showman – played by Elio Germano taken up by six lenses – intent on a tight monologue that soon becomes a crescendo of political slogans on the sense of community, on meritocracy, on safety and, later on, on xenophobia and race purity. A soliloquy that starts from responsibility, the value of authority and democracy and ends in an idealist, futurist and openly proclamation.
With thrilling appeals and delusional lyrical thrusts, the actor will drag the audience in a pyrotechnic crescendo until it leads to a terrible final consequence. A move by the public that carries with it the specter of a dangerous absolutism.
A monologue that leads to reflect and ask questions on various themes: consent, free thought, storytelling, dictatorship through a ferocious and hallucinatory narrative in which an actor, or perhaps a comedian, undeclared hypnotist, manipulates the spectators into a crescendo of complacency, up to a dramatic and unpredictable turning point at the end of his show. Bearer of a silent collective will diffused in the air, the artist from an authoritative figure will gradually become more and more authoritarian, evoking the specter of a returning extremism disguised as simple common sense.
Place are limiting. Participants will be provided with a viewer to wear to enjoy the show.
Tickets will be on sale online on the website www.sanmarinoteatro.sm, or at the ticket office of the Titano Theater from 5.00 pm on the day of the show until 9.00 pm.
