Euroleague: before facing Monaco, Real Madrid and Walter Tavares have fun against Kazan
Tuesday evening, Real Madrid consolidated their first place in the Euroleague thanks to their great success against UNICS Kazan (85-68).
Surprise team of the first part of the season, UNICS Kazan had been the first to leave Real Madrid to less than 60 points for a year and a half in the first leg. Back in Spain, it was a different story.
Pablo Laso’s men already had a 16-point lead at the break (47-31) and even 29 units at the end of the third act (74-45), before dropping a few points at the end of the game (85-68 ). This is already the 17th victory – for only 3 losses – for Real, which further consolidates its leading position in the Euroleague, before challenging Monaco.
If the playing time was ultra distributed, Walter Tavares pulled out of the game with 14 points, 11 rebounds and 7 fouls caused in 22 minutes. Guerschon Yabusele added 13 points, Thomas Heurtel 6 and Vincent Poirier 5, when Fabien Causeur was still absent.
“To be unbeaten at home in a competition like the Euroleague, where we play against the best teams in Europe, shows the quality of our team and the support of our fans. We had some very good home games, some not so good, but we always managed to find a way to win against big teams. We have the feeling that we are playing solidly at home and the victories we have achieved show that,” analyzes coach Pablo Laso after the match.
