the Trio Chausson is in concert at the opera
Founded in 2001 in homage to the composer Ernest Chausson (1855-1899), the eponymous Trio, which will give a concert this Wednesday January 26 at the Avignon opera house, has made an international reputation.
Today, with an average age of 39, Matthieu Handtschoewercker (violin, Orchester de Paris, former soloist of the Luxembourg Philharmonic Orchestra), Antoine Landowski (cello, who reinforced advice from Rostropovitch in particular) and Boris de Larochelambert (piano) have established themselves as a benchmark in chamber music.
Their favorite repertoire concerns French music and Viennese classicism. But also, as in their concert in Avignon, romantic music (Liszt, 1811-1886) as well as little-known pages or transcriptions they signed, such as that of “La Valse” by Ravel – initially a choreographic poem (1920), as well as works by Lili Boulanger (1893-1918) younger sister of Nadia, and Joaquin Turina (1882-1949). Without forgetting the trio in d minor op.11 by Fanny Mendelssohn, which they fill as “a jewel of the repertoire”, and which they have recorded on a CD “Fanny & Félix Mendelssohn”, the release of which is announced… for the January 28, 2022.
A rare moment of chamber music.
