From day to day, January has been recording new SARS-CoV-2 infections. This month alone, and until last Sunday, there were more than 830,000 new cases. As much as recorded in the first 12 months of a pandemic. With pressure on the new: total, the age group from zero to 19 years old accounts for a quarter. With infections in the little ones, up to nine years old, doubling. With this transmission speed, epidemiologist Manuel Carmo Gomes estimates that seven will arrive in the spring with more than millions of Portuguese infected.

Analyzing yesterday’s bulletin from the Directorate-General for Health (DGS), which reports on Sunday and the epidemiological data of January 1, the country already has more than 830,000 cases this month alone. On Sunday, in accumulated terms, Portugal recorded 2,255 million cases.
