Donatas Motiejunas (Monaco): “Sasa Obradovic knew how to introduce discipline and intelligence into the game”
Lithuanian big man Donatas Motiejunas (2.13m, 31) spoke about AS Monaco website, about the metamorphosis of the Roca Team in the Euroleague, and he is full of praise for his coach Sasa Obradovic, who replaced Zvezdan Mitrovic along the way.
“We have had the same team and the same players since the start of the season. We just have the coach who has changed, and he has brought a lot of things. Sasa knew how to introduce discipline and intelligence into the game. Each player knows his role, and knows what he must do to bring something more to the group. It is felt immediately on the ground (…) Titles and major victories by defense above all, and not especially by attack. We had to find the right carburation in this area. With Coach Sasa, defense has become a priority over attack. He pushes us all to sacrifice ourselves for the team, to redouble our efforts in defense, so as to destabilize the opponents in this way. »
On an individual level, the same observation:
“I’ve been in the same shape and level since the start of the season. But again, with the arrival of Sasa Obradovic, a lot of things have changed for me. He gave me a specific role, and I found my place within the rotation. It was very fast since Sasa very quickly identified what type of player I was. We are much more structured offensively. The team takes over the individualities, and the results are felt. This coach helped me offensively, and everyone knows how to play with me. »
