Portugal Fresh internationalization project with almost one million euros of investment – Observer
The Portugal Fresh internationalization project has almost one million euros, to be applied until 2023 in a set of initiatives, and its target geographies are China, India, Germany or Spain, announced an association.
According to data sent to Lusa, the joint internationalization project of Portugal Fresh – Association for the Promotion of Fruits, Vegetables and Flowers from Portugal has a global endowment of 948,900.85 eurosto be applied between January of the current year and June of 2023.

At stake are 10 initiatives, such as the Digital Agrifood Summit, a digital fair of the agri-food sector englishwhich takes place between the 23rd and 25th of February this year.

On the other hand, Portugal Fresh wants to “achieve the European average of organized production”, maintain the “increase trend” in the consumption of national fruits and vegetables and balance the trade balance.
Between January and November 2021, the sector’s exports grew by 0.5% in value to €1,570 million and fell by 3.3% in volume to 1,418,530 tonnes, compared to the same period last year.
In the period in question, export markets such as Spain (518 million euros), France (227 million euros), the Netherlands (187 million euros), Germany (130 million euros) and the United Kingdom (113 million euros) stand out. of euros) euros).
This is followed by Belgium (66 million euros), Italy (44 million euros) and the USA (34 million euros).
Of the total value of exports, 81% (1,271 million euros), concerns European Union (EU) countrieswhile the remaining 19% (299 million euros) are extra-EU.
Created in December 2010, Portugal Fresh has 86 sub-sector business partners, representing more than 4,50 national producers and 16 specialty partners (associations).
In total, this association represents 40% of the production value of fruits, vegetables and flowers.
