Abused wife and daughter: imprisonment
court
A 39-year-old man was sentenced to three years in prison at the Salzburg Regional Court on Monday because he is said to have raped and beat his ex-wife and abused and threatened his daughter.
According to the indictment, the man is said to have raped and beat his then partner between 2004 and 2019. In addition, he had sexual acts on his daughter when she was 14 years old, owed her and his wife’s death and also beat her.
Judgment not final
The 39-year-old was charged with rape, natural violence, sexual abuse of young people, physical harm, dangerous threats and abuse of authority. The accused did not confess for the most part. The verdict – three years unconditional imprisonment – is not final. The court did not accept the crime of ordinary violence, but individual bodily harm and coercion, as court spokesman Peter Egger explained.
Interviewed several witnesses
At the trial date on Monday, some witnesses were questioned. The Serb’s father explained that he did not realize that his son had hit the two relatives. A social worker who looked after the family in Salzburg had the impression that the accused’s relationship with his wife was “not as good” as she said. The mother hit her daughter with a stick. Violence on the part of the accused was not an issue. “It was noticeable that he had a more intense, close relationship with his daughter. The mother was overwhelmed with the situation.”
According to another witness close to the two women, the daughter told him that her father had beaten her. And the mother also described violent attacks by her first husband against her.
