The Beit Project Marseille – The nomadic school of citizenship Quartier Panier-Belsunce, March 7, 2022, Marseille.

The Beit Project Marseille – The nomadic school of citizenship
from Monday March 7 to Friday April 1 at Quartier Panier-Belsunce
The Beit Project was carried out in 16 European and Mediterranean cities: Paris, Marseille, Barcelona, Brussels, Rome, Berlin, London, Lodz, Tangier, Sofia, Skopje, Nice, Athens, Nantes, Bucharest and Iasi. After the success of previous editions in Marseille, we are happy to offer a new edition in 2022! The Beit project is based on the heritage, the urban memory and the traces of the history of men and women left in this space. From the study and interpretation of urban heritage places in neighborhoods in which young people live and study, the Beit project brings participants to appreciate plurality and cultural diversity through dialogue, exchange and collaboration with others. At the end of the project, the young participants concretize their experience by jointly producing a video report with the citizens of the neighborhood. The Beit project brings together pupils from public or private establishments, in the city center or on the outskirts, secular or religious, from various family and socio-cultural backgrounds, to meet and work together. The joint work of these young people, but also the specificity of the work likely to engage the project, the capacities capable of understanding that the one who could immediately be considered as Other is not an obstacle but quite the contrary an asset. Essential innovation and originality of the Beit project consists in the construction by the participants of an “ephemeral and mobile school” in the heart of the urban space. This ephemeral school, which is their workspace during the project, is a wooden construction that they set up together at the very beginning of the workshop. It triggers an immediate collaboration as well as the interest of the participants and the citizens of the district. During the project, participants use the history of places to discuss social themes still present in the contemporary reality of their city. Participation in the Beit Project makes it possible to address fundamental questions which we do not often have the opportunity to talk about openly and deeply, such as: ● The duty of memory ● Wars and conflicts, Peace ● Social mutual aid and solidarity ● Exile and immigration ● Racism and anti-Semitism ● Hatred of others ● Resistance and heroism ● The place of women in society ● Precariousness and living conditions ● Etc. the Internet : [www.thebeitproject.org](http://www.thebeitproject.org) Presentation video: [[https://youtu.be/ONMBmLQj4D0](https://youtu.be/ONMBmLQj4D0)](https://youtu.be/ONMBmLQj4D0) Facebook: [[https://www.facebook.com/The-Beit-Project-351285958259479/](https://www.facebook.com/The-Beit-Project-351285958259479/)](https://www.facebook.com/The-Beit-Project-351285958259479/) The making of of the projects on our youtube page The Beit Project
