Resident injured in fire in retirement home

Shortly after midnight, one person was injured in a room fire in the “Assisted Living” facility in Salzburg’s Nonntal district. 36 men from the professional fire brigade were able to quickly extinguish the flames. The house did not have to be evacuated.
At 12:30 a.m., the home’s fire alarm system went off. The professional fire brigade of the city of Salzburg was automatically alerted. A fire broke out on the second floor and there was a lot of smoke. Thanks to the rapid intervention of the professional fire brigade, the house was quickly cleared of smoke and the fire was extinguished. The 81-year-old resident of the affected room was injured and taken to hospital by ambulance.
The evacuation of the whole house was not necessary. According to operations manager Daniel Kracmar, the support team had brought the residents of the affected second floor to safety. The cause of the fire is not known.
Tennengau farm burned for the second time
The fire brigade was also called to a fire in Abtenau (Tennengau) around 6:30 a.m. on Saturday morning. There was a fire in the basement of a residential building and there was also a lot of smoke there.
With the help of breathing masks, high-pressure pipes and a thermal imaging camera, the tank and fire-fighting team was able to extinguish the fire in the smoke-filled boiler room. A total of 44 emergency services from the Abtenau fire brigade were deployed. The cause of the fire is the subject of a police investigation.
