Stable building near Abtenau in full fire
timeline
Another fire on Friday evening called for Salzburg’s firefighters. In Abtenau (Tennengau), in the Stocker district, fire broke out in a stable shortly after 10 p.m. There were no animals in the farm building at the time of the fire.
About 70 firefighters were able to prevent the flames from spreading to the adjacent farm building. But the operation was extremely difficult because the location of the fire is remote and far outside of town, explains Abtenau’s local fire brigade commander Albin Bachler.
“It was a long journey, the location of the fire is eleven kilometers from Abtenau. When we got here, the barn was already on fire. Therefore, our main focus was on preventing the flames from spreading to the house. And we got that under control relatively quickly. The unexpected is that neither humans nor animals were harmed,” adds Bachler.
The extinguishing work takes several hours, parts of the building are removed. The cause of the fire must now be determined.
