Is it the Abbaye aux Dames de Caen on the poster of the blockbuster “The King’s Man”?
“It’s the kind of little detail that nobody pays attention to and that only a resident of Caen can notice”, wrote, this Saturday, January 15, 2022, Captain Cosmos on Twitter. And this manga lover, living in the city-prefecture of Calvados, is not wrong: one of the monuments appearing on the poster of the film The King’s Man: First Mission looks like two drops of water at the Abbaye aux Dames de Caen!
It’s the kind of little details that nobody pays attention to and that only a resident of #Caen little noticed.
On the poster of #TheKingsMan at the bottom left, you can see the Abbaye aux Dames de Caen.
Surprising given that no scene of the film takes place there pic.twitter.com/XHGQuzFw5x— Captain Cosmos (@CosmicTraveIer) January 15, 2022
A striking resemblance
Bottom left of the poster for the third film in the series Kingsman, which traces the adventures of an old British intelligence agency, a building accompanied by a tower and a bell tower reminiscent of those of the old Benedictine monastery and the abbey church of the Trinity.
The perspective does not seem to faithfully respect that of the buildings in Caen, which today house the headquarters of the Normandy Region, but the whole remains all the same very evocative.

So is it really the Abbaye aux Dames? Or a monument present in another city somewhere on the globe? It’s hard to say… Only the production could provide an answer to the question raised by a very observant internet user!
A prequel to Kingsman
The film The Kin’s Man: First Mission is a prequel to the series. He returns to the origins of the secret agency Kingsman, at the time of the First World War, when “a man decides to embark on a race against time in order to thwart the plans of the worst tyrants and criminals in history”, specify the synopsis.
In Caen, it is screened in the Pathé Rives de l’Orne and UGC Ciné Cité Mondeville cinemas.
