Roof fire in Giesing – news Munich
A roof fire caused a fire brigade to be on duty for around three hours on Thursday evening. Several callers reported a heavy smoke and fire glow on a building in Tegernseer Landstrasse via emergency calls. Two fire engines from the professional fire brigade and several units of the volunteer fire brigade were alerted to the emergency site.
Due to the proximity to Police Inspection 23 – Munich Giesing, the emergency services expected a detailed briefing from the police officers upon arrival. The glow of the fire was also clearly visible on a traffic camera. The first fire fighters immediately launched an extinguishing attack using the water cannon on a turntable ladder. At the same time, several respiratory protection teams went to fire fighting in the interior. The residents of the house were completely safe when the fire brigade arrived. A roof area of around four by six meters had already collapsed due to the fire. After about 90 minutes, the head of operations was able to give the “fire out” feedback to the integrated control center. Then successively units were also released from operations.
During the entire duration of the fire service, the residents were housed in an ambulance. This “bus with flashing lights” also gave shelter to two cats and a snake during this time.
Several apartments in the affected building and in the neighboring building were opened and checked by the fire brigade. Around 80 firefighters from the professional fire brigade and volunteer fire brigade in Munich were on duty. There were also several rescue vehicles on site, but fortunately they only died during this operation as a precautionary measure, as there were no injuries to complain about.
The special commissioner of the police in Munich has started investigations to clarify the cause of the accident. The fire brigade estimates the property damage at around 100,000 euros.
