Municipalities – Cologne – Mayor: After the flood there is still no money to build up – politics
Düsseldorf (dpa / lnw) – Six months after the flood disaster, according to the mayor of Stolberg, Patrick Haas (SPD), there is still a problem with the flood aids in many places. The examination of the very complicated applications takes “longer than hoped,” said Haas on Friday in the “Morgenecho” of WDR 5. “Many people have the problem that they cannot really get started yet.”
In terms of the city’s infrastructure, many things are working again six months after the flood. “Every child can go to school or daycare. The reopening of the first shops or post offices are small experiences of success. “Things are looking up again now.”
If the politicians do not keep their promises – not to forget those affected by the flood of the century, even if the pictures are no longer as bad as they were at the beginning – they will make their voices heard, the SPD politician underlined. “I assume that we are still on the list.”
