In spring, the Graceland spirit will also blossom in Salzburg. Because in April, some musicians who share the stage with the “King of Rock’n’Roll” will be guests in Salzburg. The band performs together with Elvis’ cousin Donna Presley in the Salzburg scene.
Although he was never in Salzburg, he would have triggered at least as much enthusiasm as the Beatles did in 1965: The “King of Rock’n’Roll”, Elvis Presley. Some of his studio musicians are still on tour and will perform together on April 27, 2022 at the Salzburg scene. The band is visiting Salzburg for the first time. Also there is Elvis’ cousin Donna Presley. Next to Elvis’ daughter Lisa-Marie, she is the next living relative.
Elvis Cousine will accompany the show
Donna Presley will take the stage with the original band musicians and accompany the show with stories and anecdotes from her time with Elvis. In advance, however, she already chatted out of the box at the press event in Salzburg: “You know, it’s funny, I didn’t even realize how huge it was until one day at school a girl asked me: Can you get my milk pack attack? You’re half a year old, you have the same DNA, the same blood as Elvis. That was the moment I got it: Wow, he’s really great,” she says.
“He wanted everyone to have fun and relax”
A lot of time has passed since Elvis and his band last performed. The gentlemen are now gray, but the music and the memories of the “King of Rock’n’Roll” apparently keep you young: “I enjoyed every minute. It was easy to work with him. I will never forget that. He was also easy to please. He wanted us to be completely relaxed and have fun. And that’s what we did,” says the bald 83-year-old Glen Hardin – he was pianist and arranger for Elvis from 1970 to 1977.
“Elvis would have loved Salzburg”
The band members are looking forward to the performance in the Salzburg scene, as they emphasized at the press conference. And they are convinced that Elvis would have liked it in Salzburg: “He would have loved to come to Austria, to Salzburg, to appear here and meet the European fans, he loved his fans. They were an extension of the family for him,” says Donna Presley.
