Nataša Kovačević was named Engineer of the Year
STA, 11 January 2022 – Nataša Kovačević, research project manager at Kolektor Group, became Engineer of the Year. The title has been awarded for the fourth year in a row to encourage young women to study science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM).
The 2021 female engineer, chosen by Mediade and IRT 3000 magazine, was announced at a hybrid event at the Presidential Palace on Tuesday.
Kovačević began her career as a young researcher at the Jožef Stefan Institute (JSI) and received her PhD from the Faculty of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering in the field of corrosion and passivation processes on the surfaces of metallic materials.
In 2013, she started working for Kolektor, a major Slovenian supplier to global automotive giants, and soon became a project manager.
On its own initiative, it also began researching the basic and applied processes of corrosion in metals and composite materials, Mediade wrote in a written statement.
Kovačević is also a member of the Supervisory Board and a partner in the international project MAMI Magnetics and Microhydrodynamics.
He shares his knowledge and experience in lectures and workshops for talented high school students and mentors doctoral candidates at Kolektor and the JSI International Postgraduate School.
The winner was chosen from a total of ten nominees, as the nominations were examined by four juries. The Women’s Engineer of the Year is part of the We’ll Be Women and Men Engineers project, which promotes STEM among high school students.
