Government also shortens quarantine to five days – Liechtenstein
VADUZ – As soon as the Swiss Federal Council has adjusted the isolation and quarantine rules, the Liechtenstein government will follow suit on Wednesday evening. The new regulations come into force on Friday.
The Federal Council decided on Wednesday to shorten the duration of isolation and contact quarantine to five days. The reason for the shortening is now the clearly dominant omicron variant in Liechtenstein too, in which the time interval between infection and the transmission of the virus has been shortened. On the other hand, the economy and society should be relieved through shorter absences.
New regulations for certain people
It was only on Tuesday that the Liechtenstein government relaxed the quarantine and isolation rules. After the decision of the Federal Council, she will adjust the provisions for isolation and quarantine again, as she announced on Wednesday evening. Sick people have to be in isolation for at least five instead of ten days. As before, the isolation can only be ended by contact tracing when the transient person has been symptom-free for at least 48 hours. For people who are currently in isolation, an isolation period of five days also applies.
Contact quarantine is reduced to five days
Close contacts of certain people are now only those who die in the same household or who have been in intimate contact with a person who tested positive. The contact quarantine now lasts five days instead of seven.
A negative test result is also required to end the quarantine. This test must be done on the fourth day of quarantine so that the result is available on the fifth day.
Persons who received their last vaccination dose less than four months ago or who have recovered less than four months ago are also completely excluded from contact quarantine. People who are currently in contact quarantine can also end this with a negative PCR result after five days.
The new regulations regarding isolation and contact quarantine will come into effect on Friday, January 14, 2022.
Further decisions and communication are planned for next week
The government will decide and provide information on the current situation and the extension of the current measures, which are limited to January 24, 2022, in the course of the next week. The Federal Council has launched a consultation to extend the measures until March 31, 2022 and to adjust the validity of all vaccination certificates from 365 to 270 days. The relevant consultation will run until January 17, 2022.
