BOLA – FC Porto suffers but guarantees a spot in the ‘half’ (Portuguese Cup)
FC Porto suffers but confirms ‘socks’ in the final stage
The dragons’ good entrance promised more. Uribe’s goal, in the first few minutes, which shot Pedro Silva in a strong shot, identified a corner kick, known by the most team from Porto (which just a month ago won in Vizela, for 4-0, for the Liga ) for yet another quiet triumph. Pure mistake. Vizela, with a recommended equipment and marked by absences due to an outbreak of Covid-19 in the squad, responded even without some of its main figures, as are the many of Bonoso, Marcos Paulo or Samu.
A consolidated, safe and very connected team between the sectors never gave FC Porto any rest. Not even Luís Diaz, always well guarded, unable to break through the defensive sector. It was, therefore, without great surprise that the tie came. A goal of beautiful effect, with a touch of class from Cassiano when putting the ball over Marchesin, just like the math. A goal in which Schettine played an important role with a brilliant assist for his Brazilian compatriot.
And with everything tied, a strong reaction from FC Porto was expected, which ended up not happening. He dominated, yes, but almost always far from Pedro Silva’s goal. Only once did he qualify, as he saw the ball hit the post, after an area ball fight between Maviram and Evanilson. A sign, even so, scarce, for the white and blues who were dangerous until the end of the first half. Restore the second. And here the story was a little different. Sérgio Conceição removed Taremi and the deleted Corona and launched Fábio Vieira and Pepê. OE FC Porto grew. Soon with another ball in, this time from Evanilson, and later with the goal of Fábio Vieira, converting a penalty masterfully. A maximum was international because it was in an attempt at an international punishment that Zag made the handball. The 2-1 gave the tranquility that the dragons never had.
Álvaro Pacheco, with few options (on the bench, there were only formation players…) And he always responded well. I always live and I always live and I in defense (8) Marches still eliminating a huge defense to the little hope. Interestingly, despite this final forcing, it would end up being Evanilson, in a beautiful header after the corner of the newcomer Bruno Costa, to close the game and the tie. There was no celebration, but merit for Vizela who landed on his feet, in a game that right in front of FC Porto justified the triumph in the second half. FC Porto is ahead in the Portuguese Cup and in the semi-finals menu there is a big game. Sporting and FC Porto will compete for one of the spots in the final of the competition.
