Anniversary of the downing of the UIA Boeing – relatives do not trust Iran
Two years ago, a plane belonging to UIA was shot down in the sky near Tehran.
All 176 people on board were killed.
In the Iranian version of the downing of the Ukrainian plane, the families of the victims showed numerous opposition. They are confirmed by Ukrainian and Canadian diplomats.
Relatives with whom the BBC spoke are disappointed with the slow tracks in Ukraine. As well as the fact that Ukrainian diplomats are trying to reach an agreement with Iran if its authorities do not show the will to conduct an independent investigation or international cooperation.
The Iranian government is very reluctant to negotiate. Iran, meanwhile, has launched a lawsuit against those accused of shooting down the plane. Many victims of the disaster consider it a “fake”.
Against this background, it will take six to ten years to obtain a verdict in the UN International Court of Justice. But this requires a number of requirements for the court to accept such a claim.
Advocates of the family among themselves that Iran is doing everything to make the people’s trial impossible.
The BBC talks about the course of the investigation and its prospects.
