Excursion groups to visit the Smolensk plant “Russian flax”
The doors of another enterprise in the Smolensk region will soon be open to all comers. Let me remind you that our region participates in the Industrial Tourism Acceleration Program. Based on its results, the developed excursions will be included in the offers of leading tour operators. “Russian Flax” is one of ten companies that can be visited.
On this machine, cottonin is produced from short flaxseed – a fiber in great demand all over the world. It can be used in yarn with cotton and further used to achieve high-quality fabrics. You can see with your own eyes all the stages of its production.
Artur Eroshenkov, chief technologist:
“The task of this machine is to split, shorten the fiber, remove fluff and dirty impurities. That is, we get a product that is in demand on the world market, which is bought both on the international and on the domestic market. “
Flax growing has always been the leading industry in the Smolensk region, but over the past decades, production volumes have dropped sharply. For 30 years, the first plant built in a modern country was “Russian flax”.
Vitaly Ivankov, managing director for crop production:
“The linen tradition itself, let’s say, is very much lost in Russia. And we are trying to revive it. “
The history of the enterprise began in 2018. The suitable climate and soil allows for a rich flax crop. In terms of equipment and quality of products, the plant can be compared with Western counterparts.
Artur Eroshenkov, chief technologist:
“We have two workshops. The first primary processing plant, where coarse processing and production of straight fibers, flax and short fibers takes place. Long fiber is a valuable product that is used for wet spinning, and short fiber, which was previously not in demand, it was difficult to sell, we use for the production of cottonin. “
Over the past year, the Smolensk region took first place in the area of flax sown in the Central Federal District. Part of this merit belongs to the “Russian flax”.
Alexander Koryagin, Managing Director: Director
“There are only a few large enterprises left in Russia, like us, which are working, workers. Typically, this industry is already dead. That is, there are actually only two such enterprises left. This is us in Altai.
We need industrial tourism, probably, first of all, to ensure the attractiveness of our enterprise, at least. Well, and the prestige of the enterprise, to attract personnel. “
The results of the industrial tourism accelerator will be announced early next year. In the near future, everyone will be able to see how Russian Flax works, along with other enterprises in the region.
