Toulouse: back from Pas de la Casa, a man arrested with nearly 400 cartons of cigarettes in the trunk
An Algerian subject to an obligation to leave French territory (OQTF) was arrested this Sunday in the Bagatelle district in Toulouse. It was carrying nearly 400 cartons of cigarettes, bought in Andorra and intended for sale in the Arnaud-Bernard district, in the city center.
It is a method often used by traffickers in Haute-Garonne. They drive to Andorra and stop for a few hours at Pas de la Casa to buy cartons of cigarettes at discounted prices. And when their car is loaded, these individuals go the other way, hoping to defeat the vigilance of customs, responsible for ensuring that motorists do not carry more than two cartridges per person. Once in Toulouse, the objective is obviously to sell the goods at much higher prices.
He hoped to sell the goods to Arnaud-Bernard
This technique would have been used by a 41-year-old Algerian, suspected of increasing the number of trips back and forth between the Principality and Toulouse. He was arrested this Sunday morning by the police from the right bank anti-crime squad.
This man, however, subject to an obligation to leave French territory (OQTF) was driving his vehicle in the Bagatelle sector when the officials decided to check him. The police had a hollow nose since, in his car trunk, this forty-something, who had just returned from Andorra, was carrying nearly 400 cartridges of Philip Morris and Marlboro brands. A commodity bought, on average, at 35 euros per unit and which he hoped to resell at double the price in the area almost Arnaud Bernard. Enough to achieve a great added value. Already known to the courts, he is currently being interviewed at the police station.
