“The unanswered questions of pandemic management”
We begin to suspect that the “mini crisis” that opened in the government before Christmas, with the resignation of Secretary Ciavatta – first given, then frozen and then withdrawn after a single political confrontation with the majority – ended with the decision not to do and say nothing more about the pandemic situation which unfortunately is still affecting the country, to mask the profound divisions that exist in the majority on the issue. While elsewhere they reflect in depth and attentively on the management of quarantines, swabs, schools, home isolation of positives, vaccinations, etc. in light of the very high contagiousness – combined with an apparent lower severity – of the Omicron variant, here everything is silent. At most we mere mortals can delight in some periodic interviews with the Tg San Marino of the Secretary Ciavatta (ready to repeat the usual rhetorical reassurance already abundantly heard) or of the Secretary Belluzzi (who affirms that the school reopens without problems and without particular doubts, despite with the current guidelines for the management of infections is easy to understand that it will be an opening that will soon transform into DAD). For those who prefer social networks, it is possible to enjoy the conspiracy theories of the Secretary Lonfernini, who announced the plot of the unspecified “lords of evil” who could deliberately infected the world to divide us. Nothing else. In the meantime, there is a flood of consultancies for more less useful assignments (almost € 45,000 for 3 months of work by Bevere and his staff, it is not yet understood what to do, waiting to become the new CEO of the ISS), moreover not only in health care (how can we forget the over € 30,000 that will be spent on an assignment to a company to produce yet another waste management plan? As if we didn’t know how to do it alone…). Moreover, that the motto of this government is “spend and spread to friends and put the dust under the carpet on problems” is well known. Too bad that in the meantime the country is completely lacking answers on some central issues of this pandemic phase:
1) how to be able to talk on the phone with health workers without spending hours and hours waiting for someone to answer: a theme that now arises strongly not only for basic medicine but also for those who need to swab, get out of quarantine or simply get information because he has Covid and is ill and instead is totally abandoned to himself;
2) connect to this, how to avoid spending money to cover sick days for people who are profusely healed but who are already unable to swab to certify their recovery, or who simply have to come out of quarantine periods;
3) when the vaccines arrive to be able to make the third doses and why, given that the delay is attributable to the public structure (political or ISS) and not to the citizens, the simple reservation of the dose to obtain the Green Pass is not valid : many citizens today are expelled from a whole series of areas of social life through no fault of their own;
4) because a total jungle has been created in the management of the priorities of third doses, with the result that young people have done the third dose while the over 50s, those who risk hospitalization and consequently have done them;
and many others that it would take a long time to list.
Everything is silent, respecting the delivery of silence with which the pre-Christmas mini-crisis was resolved. Too bad that the country needs answers …
