MRF: There are additional tools for Bulgaria to influence Skopje for the EU
The Movement for Rights and Freedoms (MRF) will participate in the National Security Advisory Council (NSC). The topic of the Republic of Northern Macedonia has been important for the MRF since the 1990s, and the membership of the Western Balkans in NATO and the EU is a priority for the party, the movement’s deputy chairman Stanislav Anastasov told BNT.
“We know that the historical issue is important, but talking about the past should not interfere with talking about the future. We will see what specifics are placed there. The CIS is a closed format, which, at least in the past, before this president, ended in the following cases, and this one to choose by consensus what to do and how to move forward Bulgaria, “said Anastasov.
“It is interesting why the CIS is meeting now and why on this topic, which is more than a year on the European stage and in Bulgarian politics,” he added.
The Treaty of Friendship and Good Neighborliness must be respected, but I seem to forget how many instruments Bulgaria has in the negotiation process to stop, block and veto, choose this one. “Do not expect the MRF to pursue a different domestic policy than the one pursued by Bulgaria,” Anastasov said.
It is not ruled out during the negotiation process that a veto is used, and Bulgaria has the necessary tools to ensure the resolution of the clauses in the agreement.
The EU can only help in the negotiations, but the main role is played by Bulgaria and the Republic of Northern Macedonia to restore a constructive conversation between them, Anastasov said.
“Against the background of the crisis with energy prices, many people are trying to speculate. We see that for the lack of lack of the Bulgarian government to deal with the situation, looking for different solutions. as the crisis provides these opportunities “, the deputy chairman of the MRF also commented.
According to Anastasov, the moratorium on the price of heating, electricity and water is a mistake, after six months, when the EU has already made the necessary reforms, it is unknown in what condition Bulgaria will be.
