It’s done, a precious signature signed in Marseille!
In search of additional reinforcements for the rest of the season, the management of OM has just completed a great signing internally.
OM Mercato: Pau Lopez is definitely Marseillais
During the last summer transfer window, the management of Olympique de Marseille managed to get their hands on a new goalkeeper in the person of Pau Lopez. The Spanish national international (2 caps) joined OM in the form of a loan with option to buy from AS Rome. The 27-year-old did not take long to win in Marseille’s cages, to the detriment of Steve mandanda.
Moreover, Pau Lopez is not expected to return to AS Roma at the end of the current season. Because as the president recently indicated Pablo Longoria, the Spanish goalkeeper had to play 20 games to see his purchase option automatically lifted by Olympique de Marseille. It is now chosen done, since this Friday evening, Pau Lopez (27) played his 20th game in the OM jersey against the Girondins de Bordeaux. A 20th appearance synonymous with his final transfer to Marseille.
Marseille will have to pay 12 million euros to Roma
Goal indicates that the Spanish goalkeeper now belongs 100% to Olympique de Marseille. OM leaders will in return have to pay the sum of 12 million euros to AS Rome to finalize this signature. The formalization of this final transfer is therefore only a matter of time.
By locking the purchase of Pau Lopez, the management of OM is also sending a strong signal to Steve Mandanda. The 36-year-old goalkeeper, lacking playing time, no longer represents the future of the Vélodrome and is likely to leave this winter. Especially since several clubs are active behind the scenes to snatch his signature.
