Hungary’s situation in Kazakhstan is not being discussed with the EU, the Turkish Council
Hungary has not yet commented on the situation in Kazakhstan. Péter Szijjártó told the state media only that “two Hungarian citizens intending to return home can leave Kazakhstan on Saturday night,” he writes. Euronews.
“The most important task of the Hungarian representations in Kazakhstan is to keep the most important ones with the Hungarian citizens in Kazakhstan and to assess how many people want to return home”
– the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade stated to the Hungarian state media.
There may be nearly 100 Hungarian citizens in Kazakhstan at present, 12 of whom have already indicated that they want to leave the country, two of whom may travel home to Hungary on Saturday.
Hungary, a member of the EU and NATO, is discussing the crisis in Kazakhstan with leaders from Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkey and Uzbekistan. Hungary has had observer status in the organization since 2018.
