“Cologne 50667”: Very weak ratings for a birthday
“Köln 50667” was launched for the first time on January 7, 2013 – and while “Berlin – Tag & Nacht” had to slowly conquer its audience after a bumpy start, the Cologne soap offshoot was a complete success right from the start. In the first year, the series gained an average of 11.5 percent market share among 14 to 49 year olds. This quota level should be achieved in any of the following eight years, nevertheless “Köln 50667” together with “Berlin – Tag & Nacht” formed the backbone of the station for many more years.
But now the soap has been a source of concern for a long time. In 2020, the average annual market share fell by 4.7 percent, and in November and December the 4 percent mark was broken. And the new year has been slower so far. For the birthday this Friday it was only enough for a market share of 3.0 percent among 14 to 49 year olds. A total of 280,000 viewers tuned in. From Monday to Thursday, the market share fluctuated between 2.9 and 4.3 percent.
The run-up was even stronger recently: “Hartz und Herzlich – return to the Benz barracks” achieved 4.1 percent market share in the afternoon among 14 to 49-year-olds – more than for a long time “Let’s Love – A hut full of people Love “delivered. On the other hand, the target group of the two formats should no longer overlap so well. “Let’s Love” is already running around 3 pm, there it looked again very modest on Friday with a 2.2 percent market share in the target group.
Meanwhile, “Cologne 50667” wasn’t RTLzwei’s biggest problem on Friday evening, “Berlin – Day & Night” was even worse with just 2.8 percent of the market share in the classic target group, and the total range did not exceed 0.35 Millions out. For the Series it was actually the weakest day in many months.
