Unterhaching: Demo in response to Corona walks – District of Munich
In the district of Munich, too, people got together again for “walks” last Monday to protest against the Corona measures. According to the police, the largest of the unannounced demonstrations by far took place in Unterhaching, where around 170 participants were counted. In response to this, two students from the community, the brothers Michael and Florian Dietrich, have announced a rally for the coming Monday evening. Florian Dietrich is nevertheless important to emphasize: “We are a demo for something, not against something.”
At 6.30 p.m., the two brothers want to position themselves on Unterhachinger Rathausplatz and on the station forecourt to demonstrate for compliance with the Corona measures and solidarity with nursing staff. According to the organizers, they often do not have the opportunity to stand up for their concerns due to their high work-related stress. As a state-approved nanny, Florian Dietrich also sees children and adolescents as the main victims of the pandemic. “As educators, we want children to receive optimal support,” said the 26-year-old. In times of Corona, however, this was neglected. “I cannot understand why football stadiums are full while daycare groups are being split up.” And his 23-year-old brother Michael, who is studying music as a teacher, can also report on the problems young people face in times of pandemics: “At high school, I see that all additional lessons are omitted and that lessons can only take place online at the same time . So all the fun of learning is lost. “
Bipartisanism and tolerance
They see the solution in consistently adhering to the measures “as long as necessary” in order to bring the pandemic under control. “As long as necessary means until an endemic situation occurs,” says Michael Dietrich and adds: “Of course, ideally through the vaccination.” He and his brother had Corona themselves, he reports, why it is difficult for him to understand when some people completely deny the existence of the virus. Nevertheless, he also shows understanding for the self-declared strollers. “I do believe that all people work for what they think is best. Florian Dietrich adds: “We want to show that we can also hold a demo without making common ground with right-wing or left-wing extremists.”
The brothers are members of the Greens, but it is important that their rally is non-partisan. “We don’t want the impression that the walkers are dying are the only voice,” says Florian Dietrich. On the contrary, a majority of society is for and not against the measures. Nevertheless, Dietrich emphasizes the importance of mutual tolerance: “In a democratic debate room you have to endure someone being against the measures.”
