TUI, easyJet, BA, Jet2, Ryanair, Emirates: Latest travel rules for USA, Canada, Caribbean, Finland, Norway and Sweden
If you are considering escaping the January blues by flying abroad for a holiday, you need to be aware of the latest entry rules for your chosen destination.
With a record number of coronavirus cases being recorded in the UK this week amid an increase in the Omicron variant, nations around the world are taking extra precautions when it comes to UK travelers.
About 38 countries have either banned or restricted holidaymakers and are in practice banned.

Boris Johnson confirmed that the Plan B rules will continue in the UK in the coming free weeks – meaning no new measures will be implemented – while fully vaccinated travelers arriving in the country will no longer need to take a Covid test before departure.
Different policies are implemented in other countries, so before you book something, you must know the travel rules for the place you plan to visit.
For anyone looking for a trip to the US, Canada, the Caribbean, Finland, Norway and Sweden, here are the latest updates.
USA
All travelers need a visa or electronic travel authorization (ESTA) visa waiver to enter the United States.
Fully vaccinated travelers can enter the country for the most part, and the US authorities will accept all covid-19 vaccines that are approved for use.
You will need a negative COVID-19 test result taken within 24 hours before the flight. You must also enter contact information.
Upon arrival, fully vaccinated travelers:
If you have recovered from a documented covid-19 infection within the last 90 days (regardless of vaccination status), you do not need to take a test 3 to 5 days after the trip.
Canada
You must be fully vaccinated to enter Canada as a tourist.
You also need:

Have a valid molecular test for covid-19 before arrival results taken no more than 72 hours before your scheduled flight or arrival at the border crossing, or a previous positive test result taken between 14 and 180 days before departure for Canada. Antigen tests, often called “rapid tests”, are not accepted

Has no covid symptoms;

Provide information via ArriveCAN (App or website), including proof of vaccination in English or French and a quarantine plan if you do not meet the necessary requirements at the border

Take a test on arrival, if selected, and self-isolate while waiting for a negative result
The Caribbean
Travelers in the UK must present a negative PCR test result taken 36 hours before arrival. These must be paid for tests, which are not provided by the NHS.
All passengers must also submit an embarkation / disembarkation (ED) card 24 hours before the trip, to which they must upload their negative test results. The BIMSafe app can also be used.
All travelers are also subject to a health examination.
If your results are still positive after you have recently had the virus, you can bring a doctor’s letter showing the date of diagnosis and recovery.
Finland
All travelers to Finland from the UK born in 2006 or earlier must present proof of a negative Covid test taken no later than 48 hours before arrival. This can be a PCR test or a side flow test.
Travelers born in 2007 or later are exempt from proving vaccination status or taking a test, provided they travel with a fully vaccinated parent or adult guardian.
Documents proving that travelers are fully vaccinated must be dated at least seven days before entering the country. Finnish authorities believe that people who have only received one dose of the vaccine and who have previously recovered from Covid are fully vaccinated.
If you are not fully vaccinated, you can only travel to Finland if you can prove that your reasons for traveling are significant or compassionate. Unvaccinated tourists are currently not allowed to enter Finland.
A printed PDF proof of vaccination status is required, it must be from 1 November to ensure that the QR code on the certificate can be scanned properly.
Norway
Anyone wishing to enter Norway must be tested for Covid upon arrival at the port of entry. If there is no test center at the port of entry, a self-test must be performed within 24 hours of arrival.
Isolation will only be required if the test result after arrival gives a positive result.
Travelers must also complete a registration form within 72 hours of arrival.
Children under the age of 16 are exempt from testing, but anyone over the age of 12 is required to wear a face mask in public areas.
Evidence of receiving a double dose of a vaccine is only valid if the last dose was administered at least seven days before arrival. Single-dose certificates must be at least 21 days old to be considered valid.
Sweden
At present, all non-essential trips to Sweden are prohibited except for fully vaccinated travelers who have received their last dose of the vaccine at least 14 days before arrival. Travelers must also provide proof that they have tested negative for Covid at least 48 hours prior to arrival.
Children under the age of 18 do not have to prove vaccination status if they travel with a fully vaccinated adult.
British and other foreign citizens who can prove residency in Sweden are also excluded.
There is no isolation period for fully vaccinated travelers entering Sweden, but arrivals from the UK are recommended to take a PCR test on arrival.
