The Rosiers fire in Marseille would have started from the sofa
On Wednesday January 5, 2022 a fire broke out in an apartment located on the ninth floor out of ten of a building in the Cité des Rosiers in the 14th arrondissement of Marseille. Seven people present in the apartment. A four-year-old child died. Two other children aged five and three, a one month old baby and three adults suffered burns and / or were in varying degrees of discomfort.
A domestic accident?
In a press release, the Marseille prosecutor’s office specifies this Friday: “The first observations carried out on the spot by the officials of the national forensic police service (SNPS) made it possible to establish that the fire started and then spread from the sofa arranged in the center of the main room“.
The prosecutor of the republic of Marseille, Dominique Laurens, adds: “No electrical malfunction was not noticed in the apartment. The fire was confined to the apartment and did not spread to the rest of the building. At this stage of the investigations, there is no objective evidence to establish that the initiation and propagation of the fire were linked or aggravated by the condition of the building. “
