They pointed out in particular the absence of the luminous ceiling which traditionally encountered each year in value this shopping street.
A situation which, in their opinion, deprived them of part of the clientele and did not help business.
Questioned, car in charge of the Christmas lights in the Principality, the town hall wanted to react.
“The installation of this ceiling requires the use of small cables fixed directly on the facades of the buildings all along the rue Princesse Caroline, the weight of the ceiling not allowing it to be fixed on the candelabras or on other structures without the installation of unsightly concrete pedestal … “
“We are out of time for the creation of additional decorations”
“… The destruction planned for September 2021 of the villa located at 16 rue Princesse Caroline, as well as the renovation of the facade of the building located at n ° 4 of the street which began at the beginning of December, forced the entertainment department of the City to dismantle these cables, in these places unfortunately impossible the installation of the luminous ceiling.
What’s more, Monaco town hall pursuit, this work must involve the passage of construction machinery. In view of the height of the vehicles, it would have been dangerous to install the luminous ceiling.
Finally, to recall the decorations of the illuminations, are created, ordered and manufactured several months in advance. Also, when the common services learned of this work and of the impossibility of installing the ceiling, we were out of time required for the creation and manufacture of additional decorations.
Concerning the wanderings of streets, in particular of Santa Claus, this organization does not come under the municipal competence. “
