Covid: boom in requests for micro nurseries in Genoa – Chronicle

(ANSA) – GENOA, 07 JAN – They are called ‘Tagesmutter’, literally meaning “day mothers”: they are professionals recognized by the Ministry of Economic Development who welcome a maximum of five children into their homes at the same time to allow families to reconciling family and work. A sort of service halfway between micro-kindergarten and babysitting that is growing in the covid era.

In Genoa there are about twenty managed by Cristina Polastro’s Tagesmutter Arcobaleno Cooperative. Demand over supply is higher. “30/40% of the questions cannot be satisfied. The pandemic has highlighted this need because many mothers find that they send their children to less frequented environments than the traditional kindergarten to reduce the risk of contagion. Safe”.

Marta Brusoni group leader on the board of Vince Genova promises maximum support to quickly increase the number of Tagesmutter. “I have already brought the question to the attention of the council so that the Municipality favors the opening of new Tagesmutter centers.” The women who give this job 50 must carry out 200 hours of classroom courses and internships.
