- Geneva-Servette beats Ambri 4: 3 at home in the only game of the 39th round of the National League.
- The Genevans are now 1: 3 behind, but are still turning the game.
- For the “Calvinstädter” it is the 5th victory in a row.
The last serious fight in Geneva-Servette was 15 days ago, and Ambri was last on the ice a month ago. The home team from Geneva seemed to have survived the forced Corona break better. In a close line fight, the «Calvinstädter» prevailed 4: 3.
The game winning goal went to Tyler Moy, who hit a distractor around 7 minutes before the end of the game to make the final score 4: 3. Thanks to the 5th win in the series, the team of coach Jan Cadieux overtook Lausanne and is now in 9th place.
Superior Ambri in the starting third
Despite an optimal start, there was still little to speak of a full Geneva success in the first third. In the sparsely filled Les Vernets hall, not even a minute had been played when cheers broke out for the first time. Tanner Richard scored his first goal of the season to give Geneva an early lead after 49 seconds.
The guest from Ticino showed himself to be genuine from the setback. Brandon McMillan equalized in the fourth minute, only a little later top scorer Inti Pestoni met the current lead. Before the first break, Isacco Dotti increased to 3-1 for the dominant Leventines.
Winnik and Jooris are turning the party
In the first break, Servette’s coach Cadieux seemed to have found the right words. His team, which came out of the locker room transformed, capitalized on their superiority with a double strike shortly after half of the game. First Daniel Winnik scored in the majority to make it 2: 3 (35th), then Josh Jooris (37th) only needed to equalize after perfect preparatory work by Henrik Tömmernes.
