MyFrenchFilmFestival is back to Portugal and Filmin
MyFrenchFilmFestival returns for the 12th edition between January 14th and February 14th. In Portugal, it will be a Filmin to make available the 30 films selected for this initiative, which allows viewers from all over the world to share their love for French-speaking cinema. Between short and feature films, known, for example, Teddy bear, Ludovic and Zoran Boukherma’s comedy about a teenage wolf; The road movie by Guillaume Brac To the approach; and the animation Calamity, a western age of majority performed by Rémi Chayé.
According to the organization of this digital festival, the selection of films was organized around themes representing the diversity and vitality of French-speaking cinema. In this context, the titles were also divided by section: “French and Furious”, dedicated to young author cinema; “Bold Youth”, to present “visions of the unconditional energy of youth”; “Troubled Identities”, about identity; “A Cinema of Desire”, which offers an “overview of awakening to love, desire and sensuality”; “Night Tales”, about what happens from dusk to dawn; and “Voyage, Voyage”, which is an opportunity to discover new horizons.
Among the 30 upcoming movies, online, the documentary Do not pay wise qui se tiente, by David Dufresne. Nominated for the César Awards, it is a look at society’s growing dissatisfaction with social injustices, the monopoly of violence and police excesses in Macron France.
A “Kids Corner” is also planned, which brings together four short films in silent animation, directed by young and promising filmmakers who have just graduated: Australium, about a girl trying to create an ecosystem in her image; Mido et les instrumeaux, about a group of musical animals and a kid out of tune; il pour œil, about a pirate captain who only recruits one-eyed crew, just like him; and tesor, about two explorers who, in search of a lost treasure, disrupt the love story of an octopus.
The films will be available from January 14th on the festival platform and on more than 70 streaming platforms worldwide, including Filmin Portugal. It will be possible to see as short films for free, but the viewing of the features is dependent on a payment between €1.99 (per film) or €7.99 (per package). Throughout the festival, spectators are introduced to rate the films in competition, as well as leave comments on the MyFrenchFilmFestival website. In the end, there will be five awards: the Grand Prix of the International Jury, which distinguishes a feature film; the Audience Award, which distinguishes viewers’ favourites; and the International Press Award, which awards a short and a feature film.
