A police raid took place in the town hall in Hallein (Tennengau) on Wednesday. The background to this is that a few months ago confidential information about the suspension of the city office director was made public. The public prosecutor’s office is investigating.
Violation of official secrecy is the allegation that the public prosecutor has been investigating since August. It is also unclear how the confidential official report, in which the suspension of City Office Director Erich Anger is justified. Specifically, Angerer is accused of having stored Nazi songs and secret files on his service computer per disciplinary complaint.
Mayor: “The raid is violent”
The Mayor of Hallein Alexander Stangassinger (SPÖ) feels that an office was searched during the raid on Wednesday morning and a cell phone and a laptop were confiscated: “Not only did I feel that it was very violent, but also our lawyer. He said that sparrows are being shot here with cannons. I feel the same way, because it has often happened that information from meetings on the next day was in the newspaper. It wasn’t the first and definitely not the last time either. “
In addition, several interrogations of town hall employees and himself had already taken place around the cause, so Stangassinger. Printers have also already been evaluated. So he can’t really understand today’s raid.
“Up to 100 people had access to files”
Stangassinger also doubts that the file leak can be resolved, after all, 80 to 100 people would have had access to the official report. The public prosecutor’s office has meanwhile only confirmed another preliminary investigation in the Hallein case against an employee of the city. For tactical reasons of investigation, one does not want to say more about this.
