Small houses will be allowed on campsites in the future

Small houses without a foundation should be allowed on Salzburg campsites in the future. This is provided for by the amendment to the Camping Act, which is currently being assessed. However, there are restrictions on these cabins to prevent hidden second homes.
In camping tourism, the need for comfort has increased in recent years. This can also be clearly seen in the range of camping accessories available in stores. “Mobile homes” – small huts – are also in greater demand from camping guests. In contrast to other federal states, however, these mobile homes are not yet allowed in Salzburg.
Allowed on a maximum of one third of the parking spaces
The state government now wants to change that with the amendment to the law. Specifically, it should be allowed in the future to set up the small mobile home huts on a maximum of one third of the parking spaces of a campsite, ÖVP tourism spokesman Hans Scharfetter: “Basically, mobile homes are permanently set up on campsites. And our consideration was that campsites should mainly be used for tourism. Therefore, around a third of the parking spaces are limited. “
In addition, the small huts cannot be larger than 35 square meters. At the same time, the amendment to the Camping Act stipulates that parking spaces may not be sold – only a right to exist may be granted. This is to prevent hidden second homes.
