Pisa. Finissage at the church of the Thorn of “Hell’s Vortex” by the Persian artist Tannaz Lahiji
Today Wednesday 5 January 2022, at the Church of Santa Maria della Spina in Pisa, the finissage of the Persian artist’s work will be held, Tannaz Lahiji, Vortex of Hell, inaugurated in the presence of the Pisan institutions last December 18th. Today, however, the ice work, Bust of Dante, created by the same artist, will close the first appointment of the exhibition cycle that Lahiji has designed for Pisa (five installations located in the historic center of the city, from Lungarno Gambacorti to Ponte Solferino, the Citadel, up to Marina di Pisa). The Bust of Dante it will remain available for a limited duration as the latter is related to the nature of the work and, clearly, to the temperatures that will prevail in those days.
On the occasion, the Mayor of Pisa will be present Michele Conti; the Councilor for Culture, Pierpaolo Magnani, the Councilor for Public Works, Raffaele Latrofa, the Councilor for Tourism Paolo Pesciatini; the presence of the President of the Tuscany Region is confirmed, Eugenio Giani, which two years ago inaugurated the first exhibition on Dante created by Tananz Lahiji in Florence, Reflections on Dante. As then, the project is curated by the curator and writer herself, Manuela Antonucci.
The Vortex of Hell, as well as for all installations of Lahiji’s projectBEYOND DANTE, it will be donated to the city of Pisa, therefore visible to the public even after the Epiphany at the Municipal Library of the San Michele degli Scalzi SMS Center.
The artist, born and raised in Tehran, after her academic studies she specialized in Visual Arts with a master’s degree in Florence, the city where she has lived for over fifteen years and where she teaches at the LABA, Free Academy of Fine Arts. his body painting performances and contemporary art installations (impressive his work present at the 2019 Venice Biennale with the MA-EC gallery in Milan), he also collaborates with the New York University with a project in Art Therapy, aimed at improving the lifestyle of Parkinson’s patients.
